Saoirse: The atmosphere on set was always light, that was down to the people involved. I only needed to go to that place some of the time.

S: I like Sienna Miller and Kate Moss because they know what works for them and stick to it.

From the opening scenes in the new film “Hanna”, we immediately learn the title character is certainly no ordinary 16-year old girl. Indeed, Hanna’s intensity, focus and skill in hunting down, killing and graphically gutting a massive reindeer for food armed with little more than a bow and arrow amid a frigid and remote forest… indicates a girl far more mature and hardened beyond her years.

Tribute‘s Bonnie Laufer had a chance to chat with Saoirse via satellite from her native Ireland about this action-packed film, the experience of shooting in freezing cold Finland, and how she celebrated her recent 17th birthday.

With Hanna still going strong at the box office, the film’s star, Saoirse Ronan, is proving she is quite the talent. The 17-year-old Irish actress already has an Oscar nomination under her belt and rest assured, it probably won’t be her last. In Hanna she plays a trained assassin raised in the snowy forests of Finland. Her father, played by Eric Bana, has only one mission in mind for his daughter—to complete her assassination mission.
